First the BAFTAS, then the Grammys, red carpets on both sides of the Atlantic have been playing host to an array of fabulous floor length gowns recently. We noticed that this awards season there was something even more starry about the ceremonies spotting a lot of great silvers, golds, bronzes and sequins as guests at both events embraced the Spring/Summer metallic trend.

This suprisingly versatile trend appeared in a variety of ways; Chritina Ricci and Jessica Chastain both worked looks oozing with old school glamour at the BAFTAS whilst over at the Grammys Jessie J went geometric with a bold, modern take on the trend and Taylor Swift and Kelly Rowland both, literally, sparkled in fabulous sequined creations. Taking inspiration from these red carpet looks, we picked a few of our favourite pieces  from Blumarine, Haider Ackermann, L’Agence and Marc Jacobs to help take the trend from the red carpet into our wardrobes.

This St Valentines celebrate the unique intricacies with special pieces that exemplify the finer points.

Last night on the Luisa Via Roma terrace we had the pleasure of hosting an event to raise awareness and funds for the Anlaids Onlus foundation.  The event organizers, Emanuele Mariani, Federica Cirri & Maddalena Serristori with Tommaso Bencistà Falorni, Francesca Pazzagli, Federica Giusti Peterich, Luisa Panconesi & Alessandro Giannotti, as well as a selection of guests were all at the store wearing the limited edition T-shirt created exclusively for Luisa Via Roma.  Sporting a print of the glamorous Madame Drusilla Foer, who has shown her support for the cause,  all funds from the sale of the T-Shirt will be donated to this special charity that raises money for the fight against AIDS including prevention, diganosis and support services.  Fiol prosecco and BK1 catering made sure our guest had a fabulous evening.  Many thanks to all that came to show their support at this special charity event.

We were happy to welcome GQStyle onto the Luisa Via Roma terrace last night for an event in honour of shoe designer Giacomorelli who has designed a limited edition pair of shoes exclusively for Luisa Via Roma.  The fab pumps with signature ponyskin and gold metal studs show a slightly sportier side to the playful italian brand that shot to fame after they were snapped by Tommy Ton on his travels around the world’s fashion capitals.  We had a lot of fun chatting to the boys behind the unique label about how it all started as well as talking to featured artist of the evening, Claudio Francesco Maria Simonetti, about his fashion inspired, colourful pieces that were dotted around the store.

Congratulations to the winners at Monday’s British Fashion Awards, there were some lovely red carpet looks and some great acceptance speeches too.  Well done to Christopher Kane who won the New Establishment Award and the fabulous Charlotte Olympia (whose shoes many were spotted wearing to the event) as she won Accessories Designer of the Year.

Watch our video with Charlotte as we talk inspirations, must haves and take a tour of her london showroom.

…tonights British Fashion Awards! Dubbed the Oscars of fashion by the UK press we can’t wait to see what everyone wears and who wins the coveted awards.  We’ll be keeping our eyes peeled for some fab fashion moments and want to wish the best of luck to all nominated but maybe extra specially to Mary Katrantzou and Peter Pilotto (both nominated for an emerging talent award), Christopher Kane (designer of the year), Antonio Berardi (red carpet award), Charlotte Olympia (accessory designer) and Burberry (designer brand). Good luck!

So far this summer has been packed with some amazing weddings.  One of them was that of Kate Moss and Jamie Hince in the beautiful English Cotswolds.  Now, on vogue.com there is a video of the “big day” with special behind the scenes pictures and interviwes with some of the new Mrs Hince’s closest friends.  If you want to know what the table decorations looked like, see a bit of Naomi in her couture Givenchy then this video is a must see.  It also captures the beautiful bride and groom looking utterly serene and happy, with some beautifully shot behind the scenes footage it is definitely worth a watch.

Congratulations to Dazed & Confused Fashion Editor Katie Shillingford who looked incredible in custom made Gareth Pugh at the weekend when she married Alex Dromgoole in London.  The long time collaborator and friend of Gareth Pugh’s looked totally striking for her big day, changing into a full length gold gown from the Fall/Winter collection later on as the celebrations continued.

To round off two jam packed days of fashion frenzy, we celebrated at the magnificent Specola museum.  With nymphs in the garden and Daniele Cavalli and Henry Holland spinning the records in the courtyard, our blogger friends from all over the world let their hair down and celebrated their two action packed days with some of florence’s VIPs and the whole Luisa team.  We would like to thank everyone who came and made the event such a great success. See you all again soon!
