Proenza Schouler’s Debut in Florence

A lunch was held at LuisaViaRoma with designers Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez of Proenza Schouler in occasion of their European debut and the Trunk Show held in Luisa’s private suite. Clients were given a chance to view, and order Proenza Schouler’s pre-Fall collection in the private suite which overlooks the Duomo.
In occasion of this year’s Pitti, after receiving the CFDA Accessory Designer of the Year Award, the designers also guest edited A Magazine, which has Chloe Sevigny on the cover. She, along with supermodel Liya Kebede and artist Kalup Linzy made a short film to present the 2010 Cruise Collection.

With a trunk show preview of the Pre-Spring 2010 collection exclusively at Luisa Via Roma, Proenza Schouler will make its European debut at this year’s Pitti in Florence. Also, a party is to be held at Villa La Petraia tonight!
The Proenza Schouler brand, named after the designers’ mothers’ maiden names, was launched in 2002 by Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez, and is now considered one of the “Top 10″, developing relationships with celebrities including Chloe Sevigny, Demi Moore and Maggie Gyllenhall.
The collections are known for their pragmatism and contemporary vision. Pre-Fall 2009 is already in store and online! To present the collection Liya Kebede Chloe Sevigny and Kalup Linzy are interpreting the collection in a short film: Proenza Schouler’s Cruise 2010 Film.

Today Luisa Via Roma is in great turmoil. Pitti Uomo begins, and with it the installation Riff, created by Felice Limosani for Les Copains. Riff, as in refrain, is a metafor for the rythmic tension and melodic patterns of a weaving machine.
In Luisa’s window the installation stands alone with two vintage TFK M15A Telefunken reels which are connected to eachother by a ribbon producing a narration, just like old recording devices used to produce or record sound and action. Stay updated for a video of the reels in action!
Additionally, Les Copains has created two special edition knit cardigans for Luisa Via Roma.
