As we were in the mood for a little friday afternoon trend spotting…we caught up with one of our menswear buyers before they rushed off to the Paris shows to get the low down. They told us that they were loving the Neil Barrett showroom which apparently was very impressive as was his use of wonderful organic fabrics this season, a trend thats been on the rise for sometime.
They also told us that jeans everywhere would have a long rise and tapered legs…if you check out the Dolce & Gabbana and DSquared you can see them all over their catwalk shows….we are also totally smitten by the boots…boys get ready to stomp into next winter in military inspired style and an oversize chunky cardigan jacket, so heart warming!

We’ve been so caught up in the latest Menswear Fashion weeks and trying to snap up the latest looks from the runway for BUY IT FIRST that we almost forgot to stop and proudly show off our assistant buyer, Ania!
Snapped and written about by Garance Doré, fashion illustrator, powerful fashion blogger and friend of fashionistas the world over. The smouldering french blogger took an interest in Ania’s off beat style while at Pitti with boyfriend, the Sartorialist, Scott Schuman.
Here are a few pics from the shoot taken in the main square just a few metres from our store…we love that her dog made into the pics too…along with those fab new Nicholas Kirkwoods she’s rocking!

This look is so very fashion forward, those serpent print boots with the peep toe were all over the S/S 2010 catwalks. The Rick Owens style oversize trench is just fab with the cropped pants and long draped scarf. The chunky accessories help maintain the tough style while the long blonde hair gives it a sweeter touch – or a GaGa edge?? The buyers loved the slouching, loose pose that gave the whole look a laid back feel and the colours that are well put together with a soft muted touch that has started to appear on the F/W 2010 catwalks, wowee this girl’s a style hunter!
She’s really heated up the contest in FINAL WEEK! Have you seen a look you think is more stylish?? Quickly send it to us, theres only one week left!

We were lucky enough to have Scott Schuman and Garance Doré in LuisaLand for one of our ACTS during a hectic Pitti week.
Scott, best known for his famous blog The Sartorialist, was signing books and chatting to the long queue of fashionistas who showed up to catch a glimpse of the glamorous couple.
Our resident social networker at large, Camilla, even managed to catch them for a quick interview which we’ve put here especially for you!

Wow! This is quite an effect all in one photo! Our buyers loved some of the key pieces; the leopard print faux fur bolero, the louis vuitton rabbit ear inspired big bow and the underwear as outerwear corset. Patterned tights started to appear a while ago and have been growing in popularity ever since, an easy way of wearing some of the followng seasons more eccentric prints, they look as if they’re going to get even bigger. The bright sparkling gold of the vintage jewellery store in the background also adds a baroque touch, seen on some recent catwalks, and contrasting really well with the overall modern 80s feel. We also loved the make up..she almost looks like one of the Lanvin porcelain dolls!
REMEMBER theres now only 2 weeks left to get your best looks in so hurry up and you could be going with our buyers to Paris Fashion Week!

Pitti 2010 kicked off with a bang when the surreal LuisaLand, launched online less than a month ago, took over our three storey flagship store in Via Roma as ACT I commenced. The eye catching window displays filled with clapping hands and jaunty hats were all timed to match perfectly with the music and their Charlie Chaplin-esque moustaches! As balloon makers, stilt walkers and clowns mesmerized the crowds, inside guests were entertained by mime artists and acrobats who were popping up all over the place. Light and video installations added to effect of this circus for the senses. Meanwhile on the terrace, with aperitivo in full swing, models sauntered in between guests in sky high heels and clothes by some of italy’s hottest new design talent…and this was only the first act!

The Sartorialist at Luisa

SARTORIALIST.jpg
We cannot wait for the arrival of cult street style photographer, fashionista and super blogger Scott Schulman aka The Sartorialist who will be in town for Pitti this week.
We’re especially delighted that Mr Schuman will be at the Luisa Via Roma store in person from 6pm on Thursday 14th January to chat with us and all the other budding style fanatics who would like to get their hands on a signed copy of his book “The Sartorialist”; which will be available to buy in store. The compilation of some of Scott’s favourite pictures from across the fashion capitals and most happening cities in the world will provide hours of ooh-ing and aaah-ing and inspiration for those with a keen eye for style. The photographers original goal to link the”….disconnect between what I was selling in the showroom and what I was seeing real people (really cool people) wearing in real life” is beautifully documented throughout the pages of this wonderful collectors item for beady eyed style fiends and a testament to great individual style.
