Just a few names to give an idea of who and what was at weekend of shows and exhibits at Villa Noailles in Hyéres: Kris Van Assche, Steven Meisel, Peter Knapp, LuisaViaRoma, 10 undiscovered designers and 10 up-and-coming photographers.
For the fashion competition part of this consequential festival, ten young candidates from all over Europe united in Hyères, France to present their crreations and confront themselves with a selection of the world’s most influential people in the fashion industry, and of course to win one of the three prizes at stake.
Amongst the favorites were: Latvian couple Marite Mastina and Rolands Peterkops, Belgian Simon-Pierre Toussaint, and Norwegian Harald Lunde Helgesen.
Who knows what these young talents will come up with next..
New York, Conceptual artist Roxy Paine has created a site-specific installation for the 2009 season of the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Iris and B.Gerald Cantor Roof Garden, the most dramatic outdoor space for sculpture in New York City. Maelstrom features a 130-foot-long by 45-foot-wide stainless-steel sculpture that encompasses the nearly 8,000-square-foot Roof Garden, and is the largest sculpture to have been installed on the roof of the Metropolitan.
