In the midst of a hectic NYC Fashion Week, we spent a wonderful evening at the Blog lovin’ awards. Mr Panconesi, the owner of Luisa Via Roma, was there to present the award for “Blogger of the Year” to the lovely winner Fashion Toast. Our Italian blogger friend Chiara Ferragni also won the best new comer award! Congratulations to all the winners and participants, it was great to see so many familiar faces and get to catch up with you all! If you want to see more from the awards, they were streamed live online and here is just a little clip to give you a taster of the evening, enjoy!
Jason Wu, Michelle Obama’s favorite, got inspired by the architectural splendour and “decadent glamour” of the Palace of Versailles for his new winter collection. Chic and sophisticated, he showed baroque embellishment, gilded embroideries, long gowns and more than 15 different types of lace. The white, black and nude palette was highlighted by shots of bold colors such as cerise pink, chartreuse, ultra violet and antique gold. The collection mixed baroque and sportswear with “garçon” elements: sharp tailored pants, ascot shirts, charcoal flannel coats. We thought there was a little Valentino in the bows and a little Chanel in the feather dress, a little McQueen in the gold print on jackets, a little Miu Miu in the collars. Original? Maybe not. But there’s no denial that the Wu show was beautiful.
Naomi danced the night away at the Dolce & Gabbana store on Madison Avenue celebrating not only Fashion’s Night Out but also Dolce & Gabbana’s 25th anniversary in womenswear design. The Italian designers picked Naomi Campbell as their muse for a line of limited edition t-shirts depicting the black beauty herself, sold exclusively at the boutique in New York.
Our old friend Bryan Boy was one of the first to fall in love with Michael Angel’s bright graphic prints and we love his new collection that just arrived in store. Digital prints on satin, neoprene and wool these pieces are perfect to add flashes of colour to brighten up for Spring/Summer right now! The lovely Mr Angel has also created some pieces exclusively for our Limit.Ed line that have fabulous crystal details.
“Take stitching. Why does it have to be flat? And should patterns be only 2D? I love the body of dancers, I love the body in motion.” Mr. Kuho, who dresses his nation’s First Lady, is one of the six emerging Korean fashion designers who exposed their works at the New York Public Library, right across from Bryant Park- where Mercedes Benz Fashion Week is taking place.Talented, young and ambitious Andy & Debb, Demo Parkchoonmoo, Doii Paris, Juun.J, Hexa by Kuho and Roliat showed a selection from each of their collections- along with six films portraying the work as seen from their individual fashion perspectives. A creative mix of fashion and contemporary art with contributions from artists Curtis Anderson, Jack Pierson and Rosemarie Trockel.

Phillip Lim F/W 2010 Fashion Show had a little Celine and a little Chloe vibe according to many. According to the designer, though, the inspiration was “Disco and Punk, a woman boiling with youthful revolt but distinguished by unexpectedly classic style.” We loved the high waisted wide leg pants, the color palette and the Louboutin shoes. Stylish It Girl Alexa Chung was sitting front row snapping polaroids – wearing a designer’s white tee- shirt from the past season. “It was amazing, the clothes were absolutely beautiful” she said.

Tory Burch's F/W 2010 presentation held at the Tent at Bryant Park was dressy but casual and very colorful: lots of orange, cobalt blue, purple with pops of lavander and lipstick red. Models were chatting and chilling on the catwalk in fingerless gloves and hoods, sequined tops and dresses paired with high heeled lug-sole boots. Burch's Fall collection mixes uptown and downtown, feminine and masculine, day and evening. "My girl has an effortless, eclectic way of dressing and putting things together in unexpected ways" she said.
